Are you a frustrated artist, writer, musician, storyteller, artisan or other creative?

Introducing...

Dear Fellow Creative,

If you're like many of my clients when they first come to me, you are filled to overflowing with creative inspiration, but somehow the creative work never seems to get done.

Some of the most common reasons given by creatives for not creating are...

• You have trouble coming up with ideas you like

• You have so many ideas you're overwhelmed and can't make a choice

• You never seem to have the time to create

• You have too many distractions keeping you from your creative work

• Your studio or work space is too cluttered to work

Every week I receive emails from artists, writers and performers like you, looking for help. Here's what some of you have shared as your greatest challenge...

'I doubt my own creative abilities, so I procrastinate!'

'Prioritizing - choosing which idea to develop first.'

'...not being able to write the novel I have always dreamed of writing.'

'My greatest challenge is to have a clear space for creativity..minus the clutter.'

'I get tons of ideas but few of them get realized and most are unfinished.'

'TIME!!!!! uninterrupted space to get into creative thought.'

And then there are those of you who are close to finishing major projects, but your motivation has miraculously evaporated. Sound familiar?

'I finished a novel that needs some re-writes and haven't sat down to do it in over a year.'

'...my album is being released but I seem to have lost all inspiration, to finish my last three songs...'

I have hundreds more...each with it's own personal story, but all with the underlying frustration and dissatisfaction of creative impulses being unfulfilled. All expressing a deep yearning that needs to be satisfied for life to feel complete.

I have always wanted to be a writer. I know I will never feel completed till I'm able to write something.

Discover the Power of Creative Community

My name is Susan Fuller.

I have worked with creatives...artists, writers, storytellers, singers, dancers, artisans and others...for the past 18 years.

Being a visual artist myself, I have first hand knowledge of the creative process...the ebb and flow of ideas and inspiration...the perfectionism and procrastination...the fear and frustration...the difficulty starting a new project...the leaving of work unfinished...and all the rest.

Through my work with clients and my own personal experience, I have come to 4 major conclusions...

• Every human being has creative potential. As a therapist, I never ceased to be amazed by the emerging creativity in my clients. As people heal and become more fully themselves, the first thing that happens is that they begin to create.

• The only reason we don't create is fear. For all of the reasons we give ourselves...lack of time, perfectionism, procrastination...underlying them all is the fear we're not good enough...especially our art is not good enough to see the light of day.

• Action heals. No amount of talking or commiserating is going to resolve the blocks. Taking creative action does. Although I frequently draw on my therapy background for insight, I began coaching because of it's focus on action...on getting the work done. So rather than talking about why it isn't happening, the focus is now on what it's going to take to get the work done.

• Creative community is the single most effective support we can have in taking creative action. Although individual work is highly customized depending on the needs of the client, that individual attention does not translate into greater creative accomplishment nearly as well as group participation. The synergy of a group of other creatives is the most productive means to getting your creative work done.

That's where The 'Creatives Café Coachng Group' comes in...

The 'Creatives Café' is a creative community offering several levels of participation so no matter what your circumstances or where you live, you can get the kind of support you need to fulfill your creative dreams.

It's amazing what happens when people join...those creative dreams of someday I'll write that book, become creative intentions and goals. Sporadic creative work becomes regular time dedicated to doing your creative work.

Creativity is a natural state that gets blocked from time to time...sometimes lifetimes...so when gentle accountability doesn't move you forward, there's room to explore the deeper beliefs about yourself and your creative work that are keeping you stuck, and to discover ways of transforming them.

The 'Creatives Café Coaching Group' is for YOU if...

• Feel frozen and unable to move forward

• You keep taking classes instead of jumping in and taking chances

• You can't seem to carry a project through to completion

• You can't work without finding fault and thinking of all the reasons it's not perfect!

• You can't seem to break out of the routine of doing things you have to do

• You don't make the time to do what you really WANT to do...CREATE

• When you finish an engrossing project, you have trouble channeling your creative energy into the next project

• You keep reworking your piece until you ruin it

• Your professional work life is squashing your creativity

• You just have to do something creative or you're going to burst

• You stifle your ideas because they're too difficult to implement

• You keep creating the same thing over and over because you know how to do it

• You're terrified of showing your work to anyone else

• A major life event has disrupted your creative flow and you want it back

• You've managed to deal with all the distractions, but you're still not creating

• You have been successful in one medium, but want to expand into others

• You are so overwhelmed with ideas, you don't know where to begin

'My biggest challenge is learning to apply my talents in the right areas. Whether there are blocks or fears, I am not unleashing my creativity! I feel that it's almost a curse that I have such talents that are not exercised...it's actually painful. I love to be in that "zone"...when I am able to express my ideas. HELP!!  I'm trapped!!!!'

A History of Creative Success

• The writer with a novel sitting in a drawer is writing again. She is happier and creatively satisfied as she hits page 100.

• The science professor who left teaching, is rehabbing houses, doing interior decorating and flower arranging.

• The professional storyteller who had stopped developing new material, is now developing new stories, expanding her audience and writing.

• The dabbler who had trouble even thinking of himself as creative, is now playing harmonica, singing, writing lyrics, storytelling and performing at open mikes.

• The medical transcriptionist and former soap actor, took a summer off to do Shakespearan theatre.

• The painter and potter who stopped working for 3 years is now creating again, getting ready for a new show.

What People Are Saying...

Listen to what writer Darlene Odegaard has to say about the Creatives Café Coaching Group...

The class was skillfully, yet gently led, which really resulted in a positive, supportive atmosphere. I made strides both artistic and personal and gave me a great infusion of momentum. I would recommend this program to all artists, even those who don't think they are blocked, and especially those who have done the program solo in the past - it can be so much more with an experienced, knowledgable and supportive leader! Thanks Susan!!!

...Anita Swan, 'Artist's Way' Group/Creatives Café Coaching Goup

This has been life changing for me. It was helpful in ways I don't understand. I made some major, major hurdles that have been keeping me stuck for much of my life. I joined to find out what I wanted to do creatively. What I got was so much more. Thanks for your kind insight and gentle facilitation. It seems a breeding ground for creativity.

Gassho, (in zen a deep bow of greeting and gratitude meaning "your heart and my heart are one"

...Drew Mohon, 'Artist's Way' Group

Susan creates a safe and supportive atmosphere so you can go into the creative process in depth. There's openness and support which is really helpful in connecting with your real desires and creative impulses. You can have creative ideas, but in this culture anyway they are difficult to realize unless you have support.

Susan does really well with meeting everyone where they are with respect and humor. She facilitates the group in a way that encourages the group to support one another so instead of feeling like individuals working with Susan, the group works together.
